If you're experiencing pain with a tooth, please call our dental office. We will get you in to see the doctor as soon as possible. Pain may be caused by a tooth abscess, an abscess in the supporting tissues, pulpal inflammation, exposed dentin, decay, grinding or clenching of the teeth, sinusitis, a change in the way the teeth hit together, or some other problem.

The issue may be resolved as simply as taking an antibiotic, adjusting the biting surface of a tooth, doing a desensitizing treatment, or cleaning away a foreign object (like a popcorn hull). However, a painful tooth will often require either extraction or root canal therapy to return to comfort.

We do root canal therapy for nearly every tooth in the mouth at Clark Family Dentistry. If the procedure is extremely complicated, we may refer you to a specialist. We are able to perform about 96% of needed root canals in our office. And DO NOT FEAR. Root canal therapy should be comfortable, not painful. Our patients almost never experience pain with this procedure.

If you elect to extract the painful tooth, we almost always able to do it at Clark Family Dentistry. As with root canal therapy, we will refer you to a specialist in the event your situation is extremely complicated. We do ~98% of needed extractions in our office.
